Breathes there a man with soul so dead Who never to himself hath said :

" This is our own , -our home town paper " ? Whose heart hath ne'er within him burned

As home his footsteps he has turned , Taking back a Friday mail ?

IF SUCH THERE BE 60 MARK HIM WELL !

Just because we printed en yellow paper two weeks ago you need not think that we are going in for yellow journalism .

That was the time you got a yellow - jacket with your paper . But it didn't sting .

This week we have a red cover . We wanted the paper read . The yellow paper was in honor of the Golden Fair discussed in that issue . Sympathetic color , you know .

No , the yellow jackets did not sting , but the red ones do .

Of course this does not apply to you because you have either subscribed already or are all ready to subscribe and just waiting or the editor to pop into view around the corner so that you can hard us fifty cents That will make us happy . When you come to see us if you want to complain about irreg- ularity in receipt of your paper go to the circulation department . If you have read something in the paper that has displeased you and you want to fight , go to Amiel Sholtz , the athletic editor . If you want to pay your subscription go to the book - kerper . Ir you want to get some printing done you can go to the foreman printer and if you want to get an extra copy of the Mears News without paying three cents for it you can go to the devil !

That laft noun , of course , we use in the typographical sense . ( ? )

em by Swift Lathers : Dedicated to the shrine - worshipers times , from the days of Zoroaster to the present hour , from a , Persia , Arabia , to your town and mine .

Have You A Shrine ?

Have you a shrine to worship all the years , A mecca for your thoughts and idle tears ? Perhaps a hill , a brook , a face , A forest path , an opal - colored lake , A temple , or a memory ,

A landscape in a lonely place ?

What difference does it's nature make

If only when you think of it you worship it , If only , drawing near you walk with

reverent feet

And a hush comes o'er your soul ,

A light illumes your face ?

So viewing it your rapture breaks control And sacred ground your joyous feet patrol ; The breath comes quick and short , Your shining eyes soft gleam

While in your heart you know the moment

is supreme ; Then leaving it you turn with lingering glance Toward the magic of a dream , a trance ! Have you a shrine ?

Dear Swift Here's one . Stick it in your paper . Bill Powers is director of Ferry schools . Quite often he gives Clarence Morrall a bunch of rules to read to the school . Ferry high school is a great affair . If you arrive in Ferry go visit there . We have all kinds of governors and bosses , and also many commissioned officers . There is Bill Powers the probate judge . Who hasn't the power to make a durned thing budge . There is Emma Bowman who tends to little gulations and every day she stirs up soup and gives everyone their rations . Now every day C. B. Morrall reads us a bunch of rules . And makes us think we are a bunch of genuine fools . Now on these rules you must be a little considerate . Because ( you know ) they come from the judge of probate . Now our school house would be a complete affair . If instead of steam heat it would be heat with hot air . We are thinking of another plan that would save our town a lot of fuel . That we run a hot air pipe from the " judge's " office to our school . Yours in haste , Ferry High School .
