Creating an Account

Why Create an Account?

  • Save favorites: Build collections of interesting issues
  • Add comments: Participate in discussions and share notes
  • Upload content: Contribute to the archive (if enabled)
  • Track history: Review your activity and contributions
  • Personalize: Customize your experience

Sign Up Steps

  1. Click "Sign Up" in the top navigation
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Choose a secure password (minimum 6 characters)
  4. Confirm your password
  5. Click "Sign Up" to create your account
  6. Check your email for confirmation (if required)

Account Requirements

  • Valid email address
  • Password at least 6 characters long
  • Unique email (one account per email)
  • Agreement to terms of service

Signing In and Out

How to Sign In

  1. Click "Sign In" in the top navigation
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Enter your password
  4. Optionally check "Remember me" to stay signed in
  5. Click "Sign In"

Remember Me Feature

  • Keeps you signed in across browser sessions
  • Only use on your personal devices
  • Don't use on shared or public computers
  • You can sign out anytime to clear the session

How to Sign Out

  1. Click on your Account menu in the top navigation
  2. Select "Sign Out"
  3. You'll be redirected to the home page
Security Tip: Always sign out when using shared or public computers.

Password Management

Changing Your Password

  1. Sign in to your account
  2. Click on Account menu → "Account Settings"
  3. Find the "Change Password" section
  4. Enter your current password
  5. Enter your new password (twice to confirm)
  6. Click "Update Password"

Forgot Your Password?

  1. Click "Sign In" then "Forgot password?"
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Click "Send reset instructions"
  4. Check your email for reset link
  5. Click the link and enter a new password
  6. Sign in with your new password

Password Best Practices

  • Use a unique password for NewzArchive
  • Make it at least 12 characters long
  • Include letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Avoid common words or personal information
  • Consider using a password manager
  • Change your password if you suspect it's compromised

Viewing Your Activity

Access your account activity from the Account menu:

  • My Favorites: View all issues you've saved
  • My Comments: See all comments you've posted
  • My Uploads: Track batch uploads you've submitted (if enabled)

Managing Your Content

  • Edit or delete your comments
  • Remove items from favorites
  • Check status of pending uploads

Privacy Considerations

  • Favorites are private - only you can see them
  • Comments are public and visible to all users
  • Your email address is never shown publicly
  • Activity logs are private to your account

Deleting Your Account

Before You Delete

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be lost.

What Gets Deleted

  • Your account and login credentials
  • All saved favorites
  • Comment history (comments may remain but anonymized)
  • Upload history and pending uploads
  • All personal settings and preferences

How to Delete

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Scroll to "Delete Account" section
  3. Read the warning carefully
  4. Enter your password to confirm
  5. Click "Delete My Account"
  6. Confirm deletion in the final warning

Alternatives to Deletion

  • Simply stop using the account - it costs nothing to keep
  • Change your email to a temporary one if concerned about privacy
  • Remove all favorites and comments manually first
  • Contact support if you have specific concerns

Troubleshooting Account Issues

Common Issues

Can't sign in

  • Verify you're using the correct email address
  • Check for typos in your password (passwords are case-sensitive)
  • Clear browser cache and cookies
  • Try using "Forgot password?" to reset
  • Ensure your account was confirmed via email

Didn't receive confirmation email

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Wait a few minutes - emails can be delayed
  • Verify you entered the correct email during signup
